What To Expect

We Gather Together

At Metro East Unitarian Universalist Congregation, we embrace the diversity of our beliefs and the variety of ways we nurture our spirits. Our community finds spiritual fulfillment in many forms: the quiet of personal reflection, the fellowship of shared voices, the collective experience of worship, the pursuit of justice, and the awe-inspiring wonder of nature. Weekly worship is one of the many ways we come together to grow spiritually, offering inspiration, reflection, connection, and religious education.

A Warm Welcome

Our church is a Welcoming Congregation that truly believes in and practices open hearts, open minds, and open doors. We respect and embrace people from all walks and stages of life, including our LGBTQIA+ friends. Inclusivity is at the heart of our community, and we are continually striving to create a space where everyone feels valued and respected.

Dress Comfortably

You’ll find the atmosphere at our Sunday services to be fairly casual. Whether you prefer jeans or more traditional “church clothes,” you’ll fit right in. We are a “come as you are” church, where the focus is on being together and growing spiritually, not on what you wear.

Accessibility

Our current location is in the Edwardsville Masonic Lodge at 90 Kriege Farm Road, Glen Carbon, IL. The entire building is handicapped accessible, and parking is available in front of the building as well as in nearby parking lots. We are committed to ensuring that everyone, regardless of physical ability, can participate fully in our community.

Sunday Services

Our Sunday services begin at 10:00 a.m. Services typically include a mix of music, readings, and a sermon or talk on various topics that resonate with our Unitarian Universalist values. We aim to create a meaningful and enriching experience for all who attend.

Religious Education

Religious Education (RE) is an integral part of our congregation’s life. RE classes meet on the first and third Sundays of each month. Children, kindergarten age and older, start in the sanctuary with the adults and are dismissed to attend their RE class after a short time in the service. Our RE program is designed to help children and youth explore their beliefs, develop a sense of justice, and understand Unitarian Universalist principles through engaging and age-appropriate activities.

A Place for Everyone

Whether you are new to the area, exploring different faith traditions, or simply looking for a spiritual community where you can belong, we welcome you with open arms. Metro East Unitarian Universalist Congregation is a place where you can explore your beliefs, nurture your spirit, and make a positive impact in the world. We hope to see you soon and share in the journey together.
