We are creating and nurturing an intentional community that values acceptance, social justice, and the embodiment of Unitarian Universalist principles. Come, let us question together.
We are pleased you have found your way to us. Whoever you are, wherever you are on your life’s journey, you are welcome here.
At Metro East Unitarian Universalist Congregation, we are dedicated to fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment. Here, you’ll find a place to grow spiritually, connect with like-minded individuals, and engage in meaningful discussions. Explore what makes our community special.
We encourage each individual to seek their own spiritual path. Joining us means stepping into a community of open hearts and minds, where you can grow and explore.
We embrace a diverse set of beliefs united by shared values of love, justice, and peace. We encourage you to learn more about what Unitarian Universalists believe.
Our congregation dates all the way back to 1836. Discover the journey of our congregation and how we’ve grown into the vibrant community we are today.
Religious Education (RE) classes meet on the first and third Sundays of each month. The children (kindergarten age and older) start in the sanctuary and are dismissed to attend their RE class after a short time in the service.
For our adults, we offer a dynamic and inclusive approach to spiritual growth and lifelong learning. Our adult RE classes are designed to help individuals explore their beliefs, deepen their understanding of UU principles, and engage with diverse religious and philosophical perspectives.
We invite you to join us for worship on Sundays at 10:00 a.m. with coffee hour immediately following the service. This is a great chance to connect with our congregation and catch up with friends and newcomers.
Our current location is in the Edwardsville Masonic Lodge at 90 Kriege Farm Road, Glen Carbon, IL. The entire building is handicapped accessible and parking is available in front of the building as well as in nearby parking lots.
Welcome! I'm Pastor Claudia and I want to say a personal thank you for checking out our church.
We are a non-creedal church, meaning there are no specific things you must believe to belong, but we do have a code of conduct called a Right Relationship Covenant that we use to make sure we are treating each other with love and respect.
What you will find here is radically different from other churches, starting with the fact that we are super inclusive and intentionally interfaith. We welcome families of all kinds, single, partners, with and without children, poly and mono, and from across the LGBTQ spectrum. You don't have to give up another faith to belong here. Buddhists, Jews, atheists, Pagans, and spiritual but not religious are just a few of the religious identities our members hold.
We love kids, and all our children and youth workers are trained and background checked to keep them safe, and we teach values and critical thinking so they can engage the world with confidence. You can find out more about our Religious Education classes here.
I invite you to check out our YouTube channel to get a feel for our worship and of course we would love to see you any Sunday morning at 10 am!
If you have questions you don't see answered here, please contact me at dr.claudia.hall@gmail.com.
Blessed be,
